CITY OF BOSTON. SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC BUILDINGS OFFICE, TO THE HONORABLE CITY COUNCIL. The Superintendent of Public Buildings, in obedience to an ordinance of the City, would make his Annual Report of the condition of the Public Buildings, at the present time, and the expenditures incurred on each, during the past year. The expenses of the various Primary Schools, for Repairs, Supplies, and Fuel, are as follows, viz.: Amount brought forward, Primary School House in Rutland street, East street, East street Place, Tyler street, Warren street Vestry, Waltham street, Washington Village, Phillips Church, Mattapan Hall, Revere street, The Primary School House, on Paris street, has been enlarged, and now accommodates six schools. The building was occupied in March, and was finished at a cost of The Primary School House, situated in Washington Village, which was purchased from the town of Dorchester, has been repaired and put in good order, at a cost of $5,455 97 1,100 00 The Mather School House, on Broadway, is now being enlarged and repaired, and when finished will accommodate ten Primary Schools. The cost of the same will amount, by contract, to $8,200 00 The Primary School Houses situated on Worcester, Northampton and Dedham streets, have been surrendered to the City Council, by the Board of School Committee, they having no farther use for the same. An order was passed by the last City Council, directing that the said School Houses be sold by auction or otherwise; and the house on Dedham street has been sold in accordance. The schools formerly occupying these houses, have been removed to the old Dwight School House, which is now used for Primary School purposes.
