PUBLIC GROUNDS DEPARTMENT

FOR THE YEAR 1909–10.

DEAR SIR,--In conformity with the requirements of the Revised Ordinances I herewith present my annual report of the Public Grounds Department for the year ending January 31, 1910.

Under the limited means allowed for maintenance I believe the department has accomplished all that could be reasonably expected in its effort to make the public grounds attractive to the public. The general work has been conducted carefully, and each and every park or square has received a proportionate share of attention.

CITY GREENHOUSES.

The city greenhouse plant is decidedly antiquated, having been established in its present location about fifteen years ago, at which time the material in some of the houses had been in use elsewhere for ten years previously. On account of their age and being built entirely of wood they have been Subjected to constant and expensive repairs for years, and the foundations and framework of several are now in a state
