In Common Council, June 13, 1861.

ORDERED: That the Auditor of Accounts be authorized to make his Annual Report of the Receipts and Expenditures of the City and County for the financial year 1860–61, in print; and that he cause the usual number of copies to be distributed for the information of the inhabitants of the City, according to the requirements of the fifty-first section of the City Charter; and that there be appended thereto copies of the Treasurer's accounts for the same year.

TO THE HONORABLE CITY COUNCIL:

GENTLEMEN: With the 30th April last, our financial year which began on the first day of May, 1860, was brought to a close. In conformity with the fifteenth section of the Ordinance on Finance, which requires that the Auditor of Accounts shall annually "lay before the City Council a Statement of all the Receipts and Expenditures of the past financial year, giving in detail the amount of appropriation and expenditure for each specific object; the receipt from each source of revenue, and the operation of the Committee on the Reduction of the City Debt; the whole to be arranged, as far as practicable, to conform to the Accounts of the City and County Treasurer, so that their coincidence may be apparent; and also a Schedule of the property belonging to the City, and an exhibit showing the Debts due by the City, the Rates of Interest thereon, and the years in which the same become due."
