HE most famous California novel ever written is undoubtedly that

T strong and picturesque story, "Ramona." It is in accordance with

the fitness of things that the beautiful name of the heroine of that wonderful book should be given to the most promising new town of Southern California.

Ramona is the choicest of home-spots, unrivaled for location and for immediate and prospective development. It is under the control of some of the most energetic and capable of Southern California capitalists, who have long recognized the unique possibilities of this tract. It has well been called "the greatest attraction yet offered in the way of a desirable real estate investment and for beautiful villa homes as well as for business purposes. It is more than this. It is almost the last opportunity that will be offered in the Los Angeles-Pasadena region, to procure elegant home sites at reasonable cost. For this reason the subject is worth the immediate attention of investors in California, the Mississippi Valley, and the Atlantic States.

The new town and colony of Ramona are situated only six miles from the City of Los Angeles, being the first station east. Six express trains daily. The location for healthfulness, climate, productiveness of soil and beautiful scenery is unsurpassed. Ramona is well sheltered by the beautiful foothills surrounding it; is in full view and only four miles from "The Raymond," the finest hotel in Southern California, and is but three miles from South Pasadena.

The tract for sale in subdivisions comprises five hundred acres of as choice land as there is in Southern California, situated on the Southern Pacific Railroad, south of and adjoining Shorb's Station. It has recently been placed upon the market by that well known leader in many successful and progressive enterprises connected with the development of the Southern Counties-Mr. J. De Barth Shorb, President of the San Gabriel Vineyard Company; and his long horticultural experience has enabled him to select one of the very choicest spots in the entire State of California.

The character of the soil is alluvial, very rich, and easily cultivated. The rainfall is greater than in many portions of the valley, the soil retains the moisture, and the growth of vegetation, trees and vines is wonderful. It is adapted to Oranges and Lemons, being well sheltered and free from fog and frost. Vineyards do exceedingly well, as has been demonstrated, as also do all kinds of Deciduous Fruits. It adjoins the Alhambra Tract, which is very highly improved; also the San Gabriel Wine Company's large vineyard. It is very accessible to the city, and, with greater railroad facilities now under contemplation; cheap and rapid transit, one can attend to business in the city and at the same time have a delightful healthful home.

Water is supplied from a private, indisputable source, and of the purest quality. It will be piped through the principal streets of the town, so each and every one can have an abundant supply at all times.

It is the intention of the President of the Company to place this property on the market at very attractive prices and on reasonable terms of payment-much less, considering its many advantages and surroundings, than any like property in the valley.

The tract is subdivided into lots and blocks of all sizes so that any one can be suited, and all who desire to avail themselves of an opportunity for investment will find this a splendid chance, and those who select early will have a decided advantage as to location and price.
