TREMONT STEAM FIRE ENGINE, NO. 13. HOUSE ON CABOT STREET, ROXBURY DISTRICT. This engine was built by Messrs. Campbell, Whittier & Co., Roxbury District. Put into service April 6, 1865. It has one steam cylinder, 9 inches in diameter; and one double-acting vertical plunger pump, 51 inches in diameter, and 12-inch stroke; capacity 600 gallons of water per minute. The weight of this engine, as drawn to fires, is 8,200 pounds. DEARBORN STEAM FIRE ENGINE, No. 14. HOUSE ON CENTRE STREET, ROXBURY DISTRICT. This engine was built by J. M. Stone, Manchester, New Hampshire. Put into service December 17, 1860. It is a single vertical engine, with double-acting pumps. Diameter of steam-cylinder, 9 inches; diameter of pump, 5 inches; 12inch stroke. The weight of this engine, as drawn to fires, is 7,900 pounds. |
