THE Committee on Public Buildings would respectfully represent, that there will be needed an additional appropriation of eight thousand dollars, to defray the ordinary expenses of the department for the remainder of the financial year.

The amount appropriated for this department at the beginning of the financial year was ninety-five thousand dollars; a large portion of this amount has been expended by order of the City Council for the following purposes, which were not anticipated by the committee when the annual appropriation was asked for, viz:

Alterations on Almshouse, Boston Highlands.
