BOYLSTON STREET AND THE BOSTON AND ALBANY R. R. BRIDGE.

CITY OF BOSTON.

In Board of Aldermen, November 8, 1869.

THE Committee on Laying Out and Widening Streets, respectfully report that an additional loan of twenty thousand dollars will be required for the payment of unsettled claims for damages occasioned by the widening and change of grade of Tremont street, between Boylston street and the Boston and Albany Railroad bridge.

This street was widened and new grade established, June 6, 1868, and a loan was made at that time of Additional loan asked for

Making a total of

$500,000 00

20,000 00

$520,000 00

In the settlement of damages on this street, the city has purchased several estates, and sold the balance after widening for the sum of $75,072.95, which amount was added to the sinking fund and not to the loan. Had this amount been added to the original loan of $500,000, it would not be necessary now to ask for an additional loan, as the cost of widening and grade damages would come within that loan as shown by the following figures:

The Committee therefore unanimously recommend the passage of the accompanying order.

Respectfully submitted.
