AN ACT to regulate the price for license to persons dealing in spirituous or intoxicating liquors in the several towns and incorporated villages in this state.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 2. All acts and parts of acts inconsistent with the provisions of this act are hereby repealed. SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 45.

AN ACT to amend section thirteen of chapter nineteen of the revised statutes, entitled " of highways and bridges."

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. If any overseer shall be employed more time in executing the several duties enjoined upon him in chapter nineteen of the revised statutes, than shall be necessary for the payment of his taxes, he shall be paid for the excess at the rate of one dollar and fifty cents per day, and be allowed to retain the same out of .the moneys that may come into his hands on account of highway tax, but he shall not be allowed to pay his own highway tax in money.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. Approved March 8, 1872.

AN ACT to amend chapter one hundred and fifty-two of the general laws of 1869, entitled " an act to codify the laws of this state relating to highways and bridges."

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Section forty-nine of chapter one hundred and fifty-two of the general laws of 1869 is hereby amended by adding at the end thereof the following, to wit: "provided, that said moneys shall not be paid upon the order of an overseer of highways in any town, without the approval of the chairman of the town board of supervisors of his town be endorsed thereon."

SECTION 2. Section one hundred and twenty of said chapter one hundred and fifty-two is hereby amend

ed by adding at the end thereof the following, to wit: "provided, that in counties where the system of county highways is in force, the county shall be liable for injuries sustained on roads that have been adopted by the counties.”

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication. Approved March 8, 1872.

AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money for the payment of indebtedness, current expenses and repairs, and for permanent improvements and the purchase of furniture and live stock at the Hospital for the Insane at Madison, for the year 1872.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated out of any Appropriated. money in the general fund, not otherwise appropriated, the sum of eighty-seven thousand and two hundred dollars in full for the following purposes, at the Hospital for the Insane at Madison, for the year 1872, vız: for current expenses and ordinary repairs, sixty-three thousand and four hundred dollars; for special repairs to building and heating apparatus, and for furniture, seven thousand and one hundred dollars; for payment of real estate contracted for, eleven thousand dollars; to purchase improved live stock, two thousand dollars; for permanent improvements, three thousand and five hundred dollars.

AN ACT to apportion the state of Wisconsin into congressional districts.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Until otherwise provided by law, the state of Wisconsin shall be divided into eight (8) congressional districts, each of which shall be entitled to elect one representative in the congress of the United States.

The first district shall consist of the counties of Rock, Racine, Kenosha, Walworth and Waukesha, and shall elect one representative.

The second district shall consist of the counties of Jefferson, Dane, Sauk and Columbia, and shall elect one representative.

The third district shall consist of the counties of Grant, Iowa, La Fayette, Green, Richland and Crawford, and shall elect one representative.

The fourth district shall consist of the counties of Milwaukee, Ozaukee and Washington, and shall elect one representative.

The fifth district shall consist of the counties of Dodge, Fond du Lac, Sheboygan and Manitowoc, and shall elect one representative.

The sixth district shall consist of the counties of Green Lake, Waushara, Waupaca, Outagamie, Winnebago, Calumet, Brown, Kewaunee and Door, and shall elect one representative.

The seventh district shall consist of the counties of Vernon, La Crosse, Monroe, Jackson, Trempealeau, Buffalo, Pepin, Pierce, St. Croix, Eau Claire and Clark, and shall elect one representative.

The eighth district shall consist of the counties of Oconto, Shawano, Portage, Wood, Juneau, Adams, Marquette, Marathon, Dunn, Chippewa, Barron, Polk, Burnett, Bayfield, Douglas and Ashland, and shall elect one representative.

SECTION 2. Tuis act shall take effect from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 49.

AN ACT to prohibit the purchase or receiving in store of grain by any other weight or measure than at the standard weight or measure thereof, as provided by law.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

It shall not be lawful for any person or Grain to be persons after the passage and publication of this act, to bought at standsell, buy, purchase or receive in store any grain at any weight or measure per bushel, other than the standard weight or measure per bushel, as the same is fixed by law, and any person violating the provision of this section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine not less than five dollars and not more than fifty dollars, and the costs of prosecution.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication. Approved March 9, 1872.

AN ACT relating to and amendatory of section one of chapter twenty-seven, general laws of 1870, entitled an act to amend section 100, chapter 13 of the revised statutes, entitled "of counties and county officers."

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Section one of chapter twenty-seven of Amended. the general laws for the year one thousand eight hundred and seventy, is hereby amended by striking out the word, "three," in the ninth line of said section, where it occurs before the word, "thousand," and inserting the word, "one," in the place thereof, when the
