CHAPTER 1.

AN ACT to authorize the city of Green Bay to convey to the United States, Grass Island, at the mouth of the Fox River, for the purpose of erecting thereon a light-house, and to convey all the interest of the state to said island.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

The city of Green Bay is hereby au- May sell and thorized to sell and convey to the government of the convey Grass United States, the island at or near the mouth of Fox river on Green Bay, commonly called Grass Island, or so much as may be necessary for the purpose of erecting a light-house thereon, and such other buildings as may be necessary; and a conveyance thereof legally executed by the mayor in the name of the city of Green Bay, and under the corporate seal of said city shall vest the title thereof in the United States and its assigns forever.

CHAPTER 2.

AN ACT in relation to railroad companies organized under chapter seventy-three of the revised statutes, entitled "of joint stock companies."

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Any corporation heretofore organized under the provisions of chapter seventy-three of the revised statutes of Wisconsin, for the purpose of building a railway in this state, may by a vote of its board. of directors, increase its capital stock to an amount not exceeding twenty-five thousand dollars for each mile of railway which said railway corporation may, by its articles of association, contemplate building in this state, and said capital stock may be divided into shares of one hundred dollars each.

SECTION 2. Every such railway corporation may hold all such real estate in fee simple, within this state, as it may acquire by purchase or otherwise, and may manage, sell, lease and dispose of the same by its proper officers, at pleasure.

SECTION 3. No such railroad company shall ever set up the defense of usury as against the holder of any bond or other obligation for the payment of mon ey, issued by said company. SECTION 4. Any mortgage or deed of trust, exeto be recorded. cuted by such railway company, may be recorded in the office of the secretary of state, in a book to be kept for that purpose, and such record shall have the same effect as if such mortgage or deed of trust was recorded in the several counties through which such road may run.
