To the Honorable Board of Aldermen of the City of Boston:

The Superintendent of Public Lands respectfully submits his Annual

REPORT.

The sales of land under the direction of the Committee on Public Lands during the year ending December 31, 1870, have been as follows:

Five lots on Chester Park east of Harrison ave

nue, containing 8,400 square feet, at $1.50 cents per foot

One lot on Albany near Dover street, containing 3,435 square feet, at $1.50 cents per foot. Three lots on Albany street, containing 12,161 square feet, at $1.25 cents per foot.

Of the foregoing amount there have been received

in cash by the Superintendent, and paid over to the Treasurer, the sum of

And there has been taken in bonds from the pur

chasers, payable in nine annual instalments,

with interest .

There has also been received two bonds in the sum of $1,807.50, it being 12 cents per foot additional to the original price paid for said land, for removing the condition which required buildings to be erected within two years upon said land, containing 14,460,2 feet.

The following amounts have been received by the Superintendent during the year, and paid over to the Treasurer:

Amount received for the paving of sidewalk Amount received for extending the time for building upon land on Concord and Dedham streets,

The expenditures charged to the appropriation for public lands from January 1st to December 31st, 1870, have been as follows:

For amount paid salary of Superintendent, one year,
For amount paid assessments for the construction
of a sewer on Second and L streets, also in pas-
sage-ways between West Canton, Yarmouth and
Springfield streets, and East Chester Park
For amount paid for edgestones furnished on Can-
ton and Dedham streets, east of Harrison avenue,
also on West Canton street

SALABLE LANDS.

The amount of salable lands belonging to the city of Boston, and in charge of the Committee on Public Lands, is as fol lows:

Between Dover street and the line which formerly

divided Boston and Roxbury, building and wharf lots containing

626,628 ft.

In South Boston, building lots containing

601,458 "

At Boston Highlands, two lots, also, a wharf on Swett street, leased by the city of Roxbury, but expires in May, 1872, containing

836,290"

By the annexation of Dorchester, the city of Boston came into possession of the following lands, which are also in charge of the Committee on Public Lands:

One lot on Dorchester avenue and Gibson street, known as the Gibson school fund property, containing about
