Classes V., VI., VII., and VIII. have the same scope for the respective countries that Class IV. has for Am- Class XIX. includes mechanics, military and naval arts, agriculture, domestic arts, etc. The subdivisions of classes are kept in ranges by themselves, so that for purposes of enumeration or learning percentage of use, it is practicable at any time to get exact figures upon the sub-divisions; as also upon such points as biography, travel, and voyages, etc., by summing the results of the ranges devoted to them in the several alcoves.
