In July, 1915, at 72 B street, an inspector reported a five-story brick building with two families on each floor above the first; there is one stairway and a fire escape with wooden floors on balconies and straight ladders connecting balconies, and no way from second balcony to ground; new egress required. Two and a half months later after sending requisition, and again inspecting, this case was referred to the Law Department, October 1, 1915. In March, 1917, after three more inspections and letters to the Law Department, the house was placarded. In November, In November, 1918, the work was completed at a cost of $75-three years, three to four months after the inspector made the complaint.
