DEATHS. — NATIVITY OF DECEDENTS BY COUNTRY OF BIRTII IN WARD DIVISIONS AND BY SEX. (TABLE XII.)

Natives of the United States, including those Born in Boston. — The number of decedents classified under the heading United States includes all of American birth, except native Bostonians, and numbers 2,360, or 21.45 per cent. of the total mortality of the city; the males were 1,236, or 21.86 per cent. of the total mortality of males for the city; the females were 1,124, or 21.09 per cent. of the total female mortality of the city. Boston-born J)ecedents. – There were 4,772 decedents who were born in Boston, or 40.65 per cent. of the total mortality ; 2,543 were males, or 44.81 per cent. of the total male mortality in the city, and 2,229 were females, or 41.82 per cent. Of the total female mortality of the city. Deaths : All Wative-born. — The whole number of nativeborn decedents (including those born in Boston) was 7,132, or 64.55 per cent. of the total mortality of the city; the males numbered 3,779, or 66.67 per cent. of the total mortality of males; the female decedents numbered 3,353, or 62.93 per cent. of the total mortality of females. Deaths : American-born Decedents, Greatest and JLeast Numbers by Wards. – The greatest number of deaths of natives of the United States in any ward was in Ward 20, 406, 194 males, 212 females; this number included 118 males and 130 females who were natives of Boston; the males were 5.13 per cent. and the females 3.87 of the total mortality of American decedents, male and female respectively. The least number of decedents of American birth in any ward was in Ward 4, 149, 82 males and 67 females; the males were 2.17 per cent. and the females practically 2 per cent. of the total mortality of American birth, males and females respectively; of these, 149, 66 males and 47 females, were natives of Boston. The following table shows the number of deaths of natives of the United States (including natives of Boston) for each ward, with the percentage of each ward of the total mortality of natives of the United States, and number of decedents of each sex :
