Ecriture féminine et violence: une étude de Marguerite Duras

Front Cover
Summa Publications, Inc., 1991 - 209 pages
This study undertakes a rereading of Durassian texts based on the issue of feminine violence. In the majority of Duras's work, one is constantly exposed to the impossibility of love (when combined with the violence of desire) as well as the difficulty of relating to others. On a political level, woman's violence is part of a broader struggle against all forms of oppression. Violence can also be found in Duras's literacy technique and style in which the unspoken (or silenced) elements are more significant than what is actually expressed. Feminine violence is examined within a feminist framework in this innovative study of France's pre-eminent woman writer.
