Standard Chemicals.

"P. W. R." is an accepted standard in the manufacture of chemicals, medicinal, technical and for the arts. Specify "P. W. R." on your orders to your jobber. The purity and excellence of their products are never questioned. The house is one of the oldest in America and has always had an excellent reputation among the manufacturing chemists of the world. "P. W. R." as every druggist knows, stands for the Powers-Weightman-Rosengarten Co., of Philadelphia.

Model Laboratories.

The firm of Schimmel & Co., one of the largest producers of essential oils and similar products in the world, five years ago removed its offices and factory from Leipzig, where the business was founded in 1829, to Militz, some five miles distant, where the firm had purchased some 300 acres of land. This land, which is on the railway, has been made the site of a model village for the staff and workmen as well as of the offices, factory and farms. The village, which provides homes for the officers and employees, is most carefully and tastefully laid out, and even the poorest paid workman is provided with a comfortable home surrounded by a neat garden, the minimum size of the garden being 4,300 square feet, while the gardens of the technical managers cover over an acre apiece. The works and the village are illustrated and described in a very attractive booklet which has recently been issued by the firm.

To Study Drugs.

Representative Loud has introduced in Congress a bill providing for the incorporation of the "American Institute of Drug Proving." The objects are to study the effect of drugs on animals and healthy persons, and furnish documents to the public useful in the treatment of disease. Dr. J. R. Sutherland of Boston is one of the incorporators.
