THE FRUITS OF JUDICIOUS ADVERTISING

[graphic][subsumed]

The above cut represents a corner of the new drug store of Daggett & Ramsdell, Fifty-Eighth Street and Fifth Ave., New York City, as recently fitted by the C. H. Bangs Druggists' Fixture Company.

We fitted their first store for them about nineteen years ago and they are one among a large number who have grasped the truth of our preachments that a druggist is not necessarily obliged to remain limited in his field of operation.

Our first business relations with them strongly impressed them with the value of appearances. "Tis an open seasame to public opinion and a valuable means to an end in judicious advertising.

That they still appreciate the advantages and value of fixtures as advertising, is evidenced by their placing their second order with us, even though they have found the key that opens the door to fortune, as their goods are now found in nearly every drug store of the world having a steady advance in sale and popularity.

It is a pleasure to us to know that we have been of some slight help to them in finding this key.

Hundreds of millions of dollars are spent annually for advertising in this country in order to bring goods, their manufacturers or those who deal in them, to the favorable notice of con

sumers.

In fact, advertising may be said to have become one of the most important features of a

business undertaking. No business man, today, is dull enough to dispute its advantages. It is the backbone, life and mainstay of nearly every important and extensive business in the country.

In a matter involving so many millions, it would be absurd to assert that much is not spent uselessly. That is not the fault of the principle, but of its application.

The entire aim and object of wise advertising is to gain conspicuity for the advertisers or their goods.

Many druggists, in the beginning, have their field of operation limited to their immediate neighborhood or their city, because they start with small capital; but if this capital or field of operation remains small, the fault lies entirely with themselves.

The

Here is where our value to them exists. prestige which it has taken many druggists a lifetime of labor to reach, we are in a position to create for them ofttimes in a single day. We place them, in that short space of time, in better trade relations with the public than others, with a lifetime of striving, have succeeded in attaining.

Sometimes, when we attempt to have prospective customers do a thing which we have had others do successfully times without number, it is hard to convince them that we are working for their ends and not our own, because they fail to understand its importance to themselves.

In taking this view, they leave unrecognized a fact we always try to teach :-"Do the right thing for your customer, regardless of the consequences to yourself; or failing this, let the other fellow do the wrong thing and bear the brunt of his disappointment."

Drug store fitting, so that it shall act as a valuable piece of advertising, consists of vastly more than a good job of cabinet work. A full understanding of the necessities, and the ability to ably direct the efforts that shall place you on the road to broader business, is the work of one who knows all the relations into which you must enter with the public; and to reach and inspire the public confidence at once, is the work of the trade builder.

That we are in a position to place you at once in touch with it, is as sure as the rising and the setting of the sun.

This country is large and wealthy and growing more so in both directions. It is offering to the druggists of America, wherever situated, opportunities unapproached anywhere else in the world.

Let us place you in touch with that greater share of prosperity which you are missing. Give us a chance to show you how this may be done.
