President of the Cochituate Water Board.

SIR, The Water Registrar, in compliance with the provi. sions of the ordinance providing for the care and management of the Boston Water Works, respectfully presents to the Cochituate Water Board his annual report for the year 1869.

The total number of the water takers now entered for the year 1870, is 31,500, being an increase since January 1, 1869, of 1,762.

The total number of cases where the water has been turned off for non-payment of rates during the year is 697. Of this number 555 have been turned on, leaving a balance of 142 still remaining off.

The total amount of water rates received from April 30, 1869, to May 1, 1870, is. $655,217 29
