DRAPER SCALDER

For Scalding Peaches Preparatory to Peeling

The Draper Peach Scalder illustrated on page 582 is a very popular type of machine for this purpose, as the fruit is handled gently, and carried through the scalding solution with very little loss of peeling. Consequently, the solution retains its active properties for a long time, which makes this machine very economical in the use of lye. The stationary plate which holds the fruit submerged, insures a very uniform treatment. The machine is substantially built, and will last for many years.

SPECIFICATIONS-DRAPER SCALDER

STANDARD EQUIPMENT: 1" steam inlet; open coils below the draper; 2" iron gate valve in drain; diameter at top of filling funnel 12"; 5 to 1 cut spur gear reduction; tank made of #14 steel.

SPRAYLESS WASHER

For Washing the Disintegrated Peel from Peaches

The Anderson-Barngrover Sprayless Peach Washer represents the last word in efficiency, and is unquestionably the best machine ever offered for this purpose, having almost an unlimited capacity, and handling the ripest fruit without injury, turning out a beautiful product with all traces of lye removed from the outside of the fruit, and the pit cavity as well. This washer is to outward appearances much like other washers, but the novelty in this machine (which was marked enough to support an allowable patent), lies in the fact that the main working part is a single revolving unit, both the fruit and the water contained therein being revolved, and many times during the travel of the fruit through the machine, it is dashed into an incoming body of clean water, which is being fed into the discharge end of the machine, and must flow down through the fruit as it passes through the perforated carrier, and is discharged into a receiver at the opposite end. Thus, the final treatment of the fruit is always in clean water. These novel features must be taken into account in order to fully appreciate this machine.

SPECIFICATIONS SPRAYLESS WASHER

STANDARD EQUIPMENT: Canner to provide 2" water inlet to project 10" inside drum at discharge; end 4" drain flange with pipe plug; no valve furnished; drum made of #12 steel.
