CHAPTER CXC.

AN ACT authorizing the South West Pennsylvania Railway Company to construct and operate a continuation of its railway line within this State.

Passed February 28, 1872.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia :

1. The South West Pennsylvania Railway Company, a May construct corporation duly chartered under the laws of the State of railway. Pennsylvania, is hereby authorized to construct, equip, and operate a continuation of its railway line from the Pennsylvania and West Virginia State line in the county of Monongalia, on the east side of the Monongahela river to the town of Morgantown in said county. Said company shall be subject to all the provisions of the act en- visions of code. titled "An act establishing a code of laws for this State:" Provided, however, said company shall have one year from the passage of this act within which to commence the construction of said railway, and three years from same date in which to complete the same. Said company is further authorized to extend its line of railway to Fair- May extend line mont in the county of Marion, at the discretion of its to Fairmont. CHAPTER CXCI.

An Act prescribing the duties of sheriffs in relation to certain moneys which have, or may come to their hands, and devolving upon them certain duties heretofore discharged by the township treasurer.

Passed February 28, 1872.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

And the circuit courts of the several counties, or the judges thereof, in vacation, shall require the said sheriffs before proceeding to collect or receive said moneys, to execute an additional bond, with approved security, in a penalty equal to double the amount of such money as may come to their hands respectively in any one year.

Joint Resolution appointing a joint committee to wait on the Governor.

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia: That a committee of two on the part of the Senate and three on the part of the House of Delegates, be appointed to wait on the Governor and inform him of the organization of both branches of the Legislature and their readiness to receive any communication he may desire to make.

Joint Resolution instructing our Senators and Representatives in Congress to procure the passage of an act authorizing the city of Wheeling to build a draw-bridge across the Ohio river.

Be it Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia: That our Senators and members of Congress, be instructed and they are hereby so instructed to use their best endeavors to secure the passage of an act by the Congress of the United States, authorizing the city of Wheeling to build a draw-bridge over the main channel of the Ohio river within the corporate limits of said city, said bridge to be used for railroad or other purposes.
