At Bath, of a paralytic ftroke, under which he had lingered ever fince Oct. 26, 1802, Thomas Collinfon, efq. nephew of the late eminent Naturalift Peter C. and formerly partner with Hinton Brown, efq. banker, whofe daughter he married. He was diftinguished by his progress in the various hranches of fcience, and his readinefs to communicate his knowledge. A bout ten years ago he made the tour of Europe, with his friend John Walker, efq. only fon of his friend and patron Ifaac W. the fudy of the law; was called to the bar, and appointed a commiffioner of bankrupts. He fucceeded Dr. Lort as keeper of the Archbishop of Canterbury's library at Lambeth; was fecretary to the Commiffi oners for felecting and publishing the Public Records of this Kingdom; and registrar to the Charity for Relief of poor Widows and Children of Clergymen, and treasurer to the Orphan Charity-fchool. He married, 1794, one of the coheireffes of the late Mr. Swindon, an eminent and opulent fchoolmaster at Greenwich, in Kent.efq, of Arnold's grove, Southgate; whereby Mr. Topham's publications in the Arches logia are, vol VI. p. 116, on Efnecca, or the King's Yacht, in a charter of Henry 11.; ibid. 179, on the picture in Windfor caftle reprefenting the Embarkation of Henry VIII. at Dover; VII. 337, on a Subfidy Rell of 51 Edward III. The Wardrobe Account of 21 Edward I. was published by the Society in 1787, under his direction; and he was one of the Committee for publishing other Wardrobe Accounts, in "A Collection of Ordinances and Regulations for the Government of the Royal Household, in divers Reigns, from Edward III. to William and Mary, 1790," 410. 21. At Kentifh-town, the widow of Mr. Jofeph Jmes, of Merftham, Kent. At Haddenham, in the Ifle of Ely, the Rev. Mr. Wray, upwards of 30 years vicar of that parish, which is in the gift of the Archdeacon of Ely. III 2 his curiofity was gratified to his utmost with; and his obfervations on this excur fion, which his modefty concealed from all but his intimate friends, would, if permitted to fee the light, he a greater gratification to the learned than half the tours which are obtruded on them. Though bred in the principles of Quakerifm, Candour taught Mr. C. to be the friend of mankind; and even the misfortunes he had experienced in a profeffion to which he was ill-adapted did not oppress or debase his philofophic fpirit. 23.
